deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty – this is the surgery used to treat extreme cases of very advanced keratoconus in which no other surgery is helpful. In this we change the anterior [front] 90% part ofpatient’s cornea with that of donor cornea[received from eye donation]. This procedure gives a lease of new life to the patient’s eye and vision.

These are intra corneal ring segments which when placed in to the stomal layers of cornea, changes its optical properties and make the cornea more regular, and hence improves the quality of vision. This surgery is done with the help of femtosecond laser, and it is very fast and very useful.Intacs can improve the vision of the patient by manipulating patient’s own cornea instead of donor cornea in a case of cornea transplant. Its principle is that if you stretch the cornea from mid periphery, the centre of the cornea flattens. collagen cross linking In Rajkotcollagen cross linking with riboflavin - this surgery is done to stabilize the cone in keratoconus so that further progression and damage to the cornea does not occur. This procedure lasts for 1 hour in which for initial 30 minutes, riboflavin drops are put every minute followed by uv light exposure on the cornea for next 30 minutes. The outcome of this procedure is very good with almost all keratoconus patients being stabilized by this procedure. Post operatively the patient has to put eye drops for 4 to 6 weeks.RGP contact lenses – these lenses are semisoft in nature, hence are slightly difficult to wear and practice, but these lenses gives excellent vision in a patient with keratoconus.
